I have a couple of large, food grade nylon drums that I picked up from golfish (I'm holding two for Ali) and I have one large and one small one available for pickup. I think they're about 60g for the large and 30g for the small.
The containers are free, just come by to pick them up. I got them free from golfish and brought them home so that way people wouldn't have to drive all the way to Alta Loma to pick them up. I'm in Rowland Heights, near the 60/57 freeways. Weekends are usually best for pickup.
I found a guy selling 55 g barrels with lids for $20 a few years ago.
I also have a 15 gal barrel with screw caps and handles that I bought from South Bay Plastics several years ago. This is about max I can lift solo in and out of truck/van.
Also, talk to Clint at Black Coral. He can order the large types for aquarium service types.
I've also seen the mobile car detailers with nice water tanks in the bed of pickups. maybe grainger has them?
All the 60g's are spoken for:
saltyDDS, JenDub and stryker_578. I only have one 30g left.
Don't forget to bring cash when you come and pick up these freebies...wait, I'm not trying to scam you guys...
GO to a livestock feed store the ones that sell hay and stuff. Most of the time they have out back, 55 gal food containers they use.
They cut them apart and use them as water troughs. The containers come from resturants. They would have contained surup or some other liquid. A good cleaning and they are good to go. Cost me like 15 or 20 dollars each.
I have (2) 50 gal. drums that I bought awhile back. They were used in the restaurant business. I gave them a good cleaning already. Ill sell them for $20 if anybody wants them.
They're called pallet containers, for obvious reasons. You can go to these guys and pick one up. Just went there today and got a 29"x48"x29" white FDA approved one for $168. Not bad for a 150g storage container.
Anyhow, the local distributor is called Numatech at 2440 Artesia Ave, and ask for Mike. (714) 449-2250.
Apparently the Titan bins are being phased out; I dont know if you can get these anywhere else new, let alone the half width bins. They also had two of the 42"x48" black ones, used for $100.
