Larger Clown Species Min. Tank Size Requirements to Induce spawning

Just atfter some information of suitable tank sizes for breeding the larger clown species such as the Maroons, and Tomatos, Wilkerson 2001 suggests using a 55gal tank as a min.

You can use 40 gal. for them, if the water volume of the whole system is large you can get away with even 10gal.

Adding to what Edgar has already mentioned...

It is really a pair by pair thing. I have had A. ocellaris pairs that are not comfortable enough to spawn unless they are in a long tank and GSM pairs that were happily spawning in a 10g QT tank.

Ok great, that makes sense, thanku for your help, i have heard of GSM spawning in tanks smaller than what Wilkerson had specified for the larger clown species. Id like to setup a breeding tank system, could save a lot more money if i were to use 10g tanks as a pose to all 40g tanks.

FWIW I have a huge gsm pair spawning regularly in a 20H but right next to them is an equal sized pair of wsm's also in a 20H that have never spawned. My tomatoes are not quite as big as the maroons but they are spawning in a 15.
