Larger de Filter

What do you want to know about them? I think it would take a huge tank to justify one, the main problem that I see is build up of junk in the filter, requiring a backwash every couple of days, and also the replacement of all the DE. If your only talking about using it for a couple of days a month to clear the water than I say go ahead, but youll need a pump powerful enough to use it. And use fresh DE each time, and be sure it flush it out really well after each use or the DE cakes up on the screens inside and kills the efficiency.

I would like to use one to occasionally polish my system. My total tank volume is 800 gallons. I was thinking about using this system...http://www.haywardnet.com/products/Manuals/pdfs/manual9.pdf
I just wanted to get some input from people with first hand experience. Thanks for your help....

I have that same system on my pool. It would be overkill on your tank. Well way overboard. I would use the smaller DE system made for aquariums. Even for a 800 gallon tank the small aquarium rated ones would be enough. IMO
The one you posted is rated for many thousands of gallons. Mine is on a 19 thousand gallon pool.
