Has anyone used a handheld laser for aptasia control? I seen it used on YOU TUBE. Does it actually kill it or break it up and spread it around in tank? If it does fully kill it looks like a easy way to target pests.

You need a very powerful laser to kill it. It is so powerful it could blind you if it hits your eye. I'd look at other ways to kill then a laser

The laser they used was a 1.4 watt blue diode. That is just an high end laser pointer used at seminars and classes in larger venues.

I've been doing some research as well. I think you can hire someone on the laser forums to custom build a water tight container for the laser pointer so you can submerge it in the tank and have better control.

Still should wear safety glasses though! And make sure pumps are off and you don't dry anything that could release toxins like Zoas.

What kind of seminar are you using a 1.4w laser for? Jeez. I question that being anything over 10mW because much higher can cause permanent damage. Over 1W absolutely can cause permanent vision damage.
Edit: actually I doubt it was over 5mW if used in a class etc, you're thinking of because you can't buy one preassembled capable of over 5mW legally.
