monticaps182007.JPG

and the FTS requested by STEVE...since my camera is so crappy w/o flash it took about 20 pics to get 2 or 3 that were decent and this was the best I could do with my equipment
fts182007.JPG

I am going to modify the placement of the monti digi frag and the olive green monti cap (right now theyre within a few inches of the orange monti cap and that'll obivously be a problem...Im just waiting on some plumbers putty

Looks good. Watch those star polyps they will over take the rock pretty quickly, I have even had it choke back other corals in my nano.

LOL I warned him

yeah I am goign to position the GSPs so that they would have to grow onto the overflow first, then to the other rocks, so basically I'd have a chance to frag them when they do that before getting there

update: might finally hve the flow situation resolved

I removed the MJ1200 and added two seio m620s

right now Im sitting at about 48x turnover, which I think is pretty decent

I have an extra 20L sitting around that I might make into a fuge, but havent decided yet...it would have to be on its own stand and I think that would look stuipd...but still thinking about it

updated stocking list (this is what I have so far):
emerald crab
queen conch
astreas
1 blue leg hermit hitch hiker

orange monti digi
pocillopora
acropora millepora
orange monti cap
olive green monti cap
zoos (greens, orange)
blue ric
orange ric
frilly mushroom
GSP
frogspawn
candy cane

planning to add ultimately:
long nosed hawk fish (dont care if it eats shrimp, Im getting one)
true percula clown
yellow watchman goby/pistol shrimp
yellow candy hogfish Bodianus bimaculatus*
flame or coral beauty angel (havent decided which one)*

brain coral (havent decided which variety
acros (need some pinks/blues/purples)
superman monti
more zoos
more ricordea

clam (havent decided which kind I want yet...obviously not a large one...right now Im liking squamosas)

thanks for looking, as usual any and all comments are welcome

well I added a fish yesterday, just a standard firefish...I've always thought they were cool so I picked one up from Andy's Animals...I liked the store and his fish were very good looking...(even better looking snakes, but that's another message board)

no pics yet, he's still hiding out, but its the first fish in the tank so he shouldn't be shy for too long

just sharing some growth pics so far

here are the orange and green zoos I got a while back, they are reproducing like crazy

greenorangezoos222007.JPG

the pocillopora is showing incredible growth, I got it exactly one month ago from Roy
pocigrowth222007.jpg

I also recently added a queen conch to stir up my sand bed, but its behaving weird...it is climbing on the rocks and glass...is that normal?
queenonrocks222007.JPG

here is a shot of the one and only mushroom in my tank, it was too cool to ban from the tank
shroom222007.JPG

I picked up some used seios (as previously mentioned) but only one had a mount so I had to improvise, so far it's working well, but the downside is that I can't adjust the direction or position of the seio

another shot of it, including a close up of the seio's for Steve

here is a full tank shot taken today

here are a few shots of the tank bowing situation IM having DO YOU THINK THIS IS SOMETHING I SHOULD WORRY ABOUT?

note the queen conch up in the corner of the tank...***?

and just for fun, here is a shot of my first ever tank back in 2002...things have come a long way

I don't know what kind of acrylic they used but dang it should not have a bow like that yet !

I would have Scubadiver cut out a euro brace for that and glue it down, maybe drain the tank 1/2 way down first.

I think the next DIY should be glass cleaning. I don't know what they do in the Dakota's but CLEAN THE GLASS.

Tank looks good though. I like how everything is set up.

Yeah, I hope that bow thing gets fixed. That seems like a lot of bow and over time will begin to peel away from the other pieces of acrylic.

Doubt it. It would have to be VERY tight fitting.

I think the best thing would be a simple acrylic strip down the middle attaching the to panes of acrylic. It only needs to be about an inch thick. That will help greatly. To do that you'd have to empty a fairly large amount of water first until the bowing is gone.

Maybe you could use a bar clamp to get the bow out and then use weld-on to get rid of the bow. I think you'd have to be VERY careful to do this.

I don't really know, just throwing out ideas.

I can "unbow" it with my hands while the tank is full just by pushing it...so clamp would work fine....a brace would be so queer though...dammit

well the guy that made the tank got back to me and said that in his opinion the bow I am experiencing is nothing to worry about and that much worse has been seen....I will continue to monitor the situation, but adding a 2" eurobrace would not break my heart too much if needed

are there any warning signs to catastrophic failure? i.e. crazing, etc?

Yeah crazing/spider webs.

Also fogging, blurriness, burning, mild abdominal discomfort, loss of appetite, loss of libido. Ect ect.
