Yeah crazing/spider webs.

Also fogging, blurriness, burning, itching, severe rashes and red sores, limpness, mild abdominal discomfort, loss of appetite, loss of libido. Ect ect.

those are things that you experiance daily right?

Ive decided to leave it and monitor it...IM going off the word of the manufacturer on this one

besides if it breaks, I'll just upgrade to a 75 so I can get some bigger fish

well the guy that made the tank got back to me and said that in his opinion the bow I am experiencing is nothing to worry about and that much worse has been seen....I will continue to monitor the situation, but adding a 2" eurobrace would not break my heart too much if needed

are there any warning signs to catastrophic failure? i.e. crazing, etc?

how thick is the acrylic ?

cast or extruded?

i have seen a lot of tanks bow with acrylic but a euro brace would help but suggest a thick material on top (you would have to empty it)

the acrylic is 1/2"...the manufacturer recommended 3/4" when the order was made, but the original buyer demanded 1/2" based on cost......funny thing is the original owner never even set the tank up...it was then sold to the dude I bought it from...this tank gets around

I dont know if its cast or extruded...the guy that made the tank up in Minneapolis has a very good reputation ( http://reefmania.net/ ), so Im assuming its cast (since it says his sumps are made of cast)

well, there was a winner's convention on my floor and the firefish decided he couldn't miss out, so he joined in the fun

pulled him out of my dog's mouth today

bummer

its a place where only the coolest hang out...like suicidal fish, dust mites, urine stains, etc

my lid was not quite tight since I put the seios in...I need to cut out little sections for the seios so the lid will fit tightly again

now the biggest flight risks are the snails, but they aren't going anywhere

BOOOOOO

at least it'll be fixed and refilled on Monday

I guess I forgot to mention

scbadiver and I are going to hook up a eurobrace for it this weekend

now that the tank is empty...is there anything else I should be looking at? maybe some holes for a CL or maybe an additional drain?

Oh yeah, Closed loop AND addt drain! We can make that thing look like a block of swiss cheese my freind. Got bulkheads?

I would definitely make the Hole bigger for the drain while you can.

Closed loop don't sound bad. How much flow did you have and how much more do you want? Was your return pump running fully open?

right now IM at 48X with my return pump at about 50%

IM hoping to run the return pump near full capacity since IM setting up a new, bigger fuge, so I'll be able to handle the flow

the closed loop would be for "future reference"...hopefully with the closed loop I can lose the seios

at this point the larger drain is 100% happening, havent quite decided on the CL

what size holes do you drill for CL? pump wouldnt be bigger than a mag 7 or 9

I'd go with 1 1/2 inch intake too minimize suction (so nothing gets sucked against the intake) and 1 inch bulkhead returns with a bushing to 3/4 loc line or whatever. Gives some flexibilty down the road for whatever you want to do with it. Also it allows good flow with little backpressure on your pump. JMO.

thanks for all the suggestions guys

I have decided that since this tank is fairly temporary (3 years max) that I dont need to get a closed loop, not only would it be more money for plumbing, etc etc it is also that I dont think I'll be stocking this tank appropriately to require so much flow

anyways, I decided to go with a 2" drain because, as head of household, I have instituted a go big or go home policy...if I expect everyone in my house to respect those guidelines then I must also

it is for practicality reasons only that I did not go with 14 x 2" drains drilled all throughout the tank

so anyways, Robbie, we'll have a pretty easy day just gluing and drilling 1 hole....oh well, maybe we can cut some stuff up with a saw just for fun
