latazyo's official tank build thread

Well, I don't want to die yet, so...

Lookin' good Leighton! (Except for that little rat in the last pic--J/K, it looks like an Ewok).

what in the world is all over that return on the left?

Looks good though! just like my tank. A bunch of frags all over.

another new fish...pink skunk clownfish...just sweet

picked this fish up at Beldt's a few days ago

obviously using a $200 camera from 2004 is not the way to shoot fish

Im not

I dont even have a test kit, nor do I know what its supposed to be anyways

that is something I might look into

as for now I do monthly water changes

 Might want to look into that in the future.

How many SPS pieces you have? Any clams? And I think coraline takes up calcium as well.

I could be wrong though.

Coraline uses calcium, alkalinity and magnesium. I wouldn't depend on water changes to keep your levels correct as they rarely are correct in salt mixes. Alk is used up quickly.

what I meant to say is that at this time, since I have no testing equipment or money to buy any calcium controlling equipment that I am not even attempting to control the levels...

I didnt mean for it to sound like I was trying to control it via water changes

so far the SPSs are growing very well, so something must be right (might be lighting)

luckily (since I hate coraline) the coraline hasn't been growing much (on the panels at least, which is all I care about)

scraping coraline off acrylic = bad everytime I do it, so as long as the purple stuff is lacking, Im not sweating it

anyways, Jeff, to answer your question (let me go count)

11 SPS:
2 - monti cap (orange and olive)
1 - monti digi (orange)
1 - monti danae (superman)
1 - green pocillopora
3 - misc (no idea what they are, got them from Chad)
3 - millepora (pink, green, yellow)

0 Clams:
I said zero

UPDATE: sorry everyone for the lack of updates, summer semester has been a real dog

anyways, I regretfully announce that I lost my favorite fish, the longnose hawkfish...a believed carpet surfer (the body was never found, but I have 3 dogs, so they probably got a snack)

I am also pleased to announce that I "may" have sucessfully battled monti eating nudis
for more information search for "praziquantel" and check out my thread

I have a few more pics to update

I picked up another monti cap, a purple rimmed green monti cap, in the background you can see the superman that was believed to be eaten by the nudis (white strip down the middle)

I have an extra 20L "fuge" plumbed into the system, however it is completely viewable, so I am going to add some "non-reef safe" stuff to it

I am doing this because I think there are a lot of cool "non reef safe" things (i.e. choco chip star, coral band shrimp)

so Im looking for some suggestions for a fish to put in the non reef safe section (i.e. dwarf lion)

anyways, thanks for looking...as always
