Latz countdown!!!

I ordered 2 CB Latz from Pacific Island Aquatics last night and they will arrive here on Thursday morning! I've only wanted a pair of these for about 20 years. I got back into the hobby after a very long time away and never had an opportunity to acquire these. When I started my tank earlier this year I know I had to find a pair to buy. Since my tank is relatively new I'm not going to add an anemoni for at least 5-6 months.

I'll update the group on their progress.

i too acquired a pair from PIA. Kevin is an absolute pleasure to work with and the quality of their fish is fantastic. look forward to seeing your fish!

Thanks, Any recommendations on acclimation. I hear they are really robust. Are your latz hosting with a BTA?

I've been taking it slow on my 240g. Only 2 bangaii cardinals, lawnmower blenny, 2 shrimp and a crab. They will have plenty of room and I've used established LR so I've got pods all over my tank already. I just want to get these guys established before I add more fish later on.

Hey finrod2, I love it when people like you purchase my baby latz. I can tell from your posts that they'll be going to a good home and that makes me very happy!
I hope you enjoy them and keep us posted with photos.
Aloha, Karen

Karen,
Thank you very much. I know its kinda corny but it really has been a dream of mine to get a Latz. Congratulations on your accomplishments and making breeding these a reality. BTW, how do these act when there is a 3rd specimen of the same species. I may get another if feasible later on this year.
Keep it up!
Mike

It's not corny at all. I felt the same way and dreamed of latz for years and was so excited when I got my pair.
In terms of keeping three together I do have a trio "the three amigos" that are the first three I raised. They get along great together but they have always been together. I think adding a third latz to two that have been together would result in aggression towards the new guy. I am often proven wrong but if you do try to add a third later make sure you stand by and be ready to rescue him.

Thanks Karen,
Here is an update. Fish arrive an 75 minutes ago. Larger of the two was probably between 1.5" and 2", the other about 1/2" smaller. The smaller latz was not looking good, discolors, near the top of the water in the bag. After floating the bag for about 20 minutes I started drip acclimation. An hour in they are looking very good, energetic. Another hour of drip and I add them to the tank.

Here's an update. I've had them a full day now and so far so good. Kevin at PIA mentioned that these guys eat like pigs and he was right. Even though the smaller latz can be a bit shy at times when food is dumped in they go on overdrive. I'm keeping temp at 78F and they seem to be doing well. I'll get some pics up once I figure out how to manually focus my camera:) Mike
