Lava rock instead of bio balls?

I agree, I would think there would be a major risk of all kinds of contamination of metals, despite what someone is saying. bioballs are dirt cheap, and if you buy in bulk so is liverock, why risk it to say a buck, when the fish are so expensive?

I did an internet search and there are also people advocating lava rock in the tank!!! I didn't consider the metal content-was thinking about the weight and the surface area.:eek1:

FYI You may want to lay off on posting the ebay links. It don't bother most people but it is against one of RC's silly rules

I think that RC says that it is ok to post e-bay links as long as you are not advertising a sale of an item. If it were your own auction, it would be considered "commercial". Commercialism is against the RC UA.

Yea, as long as your not selling or promoting the item, its ok I believe. Ive posted tons before and never got told anything.

No ebay links are allowed. I have seen the mods delete links and give warnings for instances just like this. You see it happen alot in the zoanthids forum. I think its a silly rule but who am I to say anything :D

That is strange, I have seen tons that were allowed. Especially when people are laughing at a particular auction.

I have noticed that too. Maybe there are a couple mods that don't understand their own rules and delete links when they shouldn't be.

Maybe they don't want to take business away from their sponsors...

Dave

More like they don't want the sponsors to get mad and not give them money :) BTW that was a joke and I have bought from many of the great sponsors we have here on RC.

Sounds like a conflict of interest to me. Funny I thought the vendors were here because of the hobbiests and not the other way around.

I don't think that is it at all. We are allowed to post links to any vendor, as long as we are not promoting our own business.

And this is the start of this thread getting locked :D

Yeah Dwayne, you would go running to the mods over every little post like a sissy-boy, wouldn't you? Photoshoppers and sissy-boys are in the same category as far as I'm concerned. ;)
