Leak around Glass-Holes gasket

I'm planning on repairing the leak with aquarium sealant with water in the tank. How risky is this? I'm just a little concerned that it may be difficult to unscrew and worrying about over tightening and cracking the glass. Any tips?

Silicone won't stick to wet glass. You have a picture of what you want to repair?

The water is below the glass holes skimmer box.
