leak test advice

We have been gradually filling our 125 over the past few days to test for leaks. One of our overflow has filled up with water, so we will need to seal it with silicone. Any tips for us?

Also, and maybe more concerning, is that the bulkhead on that leaky side is leaking ever so slightly. By this I mean that there is maybe 1/2 of water in a 5 gallon bucket that has slowly dripped from somewhere in the bulkhead region over the past few days. Any suggestions?

We are heading up to ABC reefs tomorrow to check out some options for sumps, so if any one has any suggestions on what we should get while we re there it would be appreciated.

You will want to take care of that leaky bulkhead for sure. You need to find out were the leak is coming from. Are your bulkheads slip connection or threaded? Could be the bulkhead itself? Are they new? Could also be a leak between the bulkhead and the tank. Hard to say but try to pinpoint the leak.

When I set my tank up I just went ahead and changed all 4 bulkheads to be on the safe side.

Let us know when you pin point that leak. Not saying your going too but I wouldn't try and band aid the leak as that will just bite you in the arse later down the road when the tank is all full and running good. Easier and better to fix it the right way now.

What size bulkheads do you have?

On a side note I just read your heading to ABC Reefs tomorrow. I'm also planning a trip up there tomorrow. Maybe we will run into each other..

They are 1 1/2" I think, and no we won't band aid anything..we want to do it the right way. Thanks for the info..much appreciated

Are you sure the bulkeads are tight? Are the gaskets on the water side of the tank? If so, at a minimum the gaskets need replaced, if not the whole bulkhead
