Leak!

Why would a drain bulkhead suddenly start leaking after over 6 months of running? I tightened it and it stopped, just a bit concerned that this will start again and I won't happen to catch it as quickly.

Get in the habit of tighten the bulkhead nut. I have had the same thing happen to me. I check them once a month now since I had it happen.

I have had that same problem a few times. Usually a quick snug will take care of it.

Same here

Interesting, guess in all the time I've been on RC I've never heard anyone mention doing this as part of regular maintenance. Learn something new every day. Just glad I happened to notice it when I did. I heard a tapping noise and it just so happened that the water was leaking onto the plastic wrapper of something I had in the stand, causing the tapping noise. Otherwise, it probably would have gone all day today. Learn something new every day. As it is, I only lost maybe a couple gallons at most.

On a sidenote, I solved the mystery of my missing Carpenter's wrasse. When he went missing I searched all over under my stand and surrounding areas. Pulled stuff out I had stored in there, etc. Pulled it out again last night to clean up this water and lo and behold, one wrasse body. So, mystery solved - he managed to fly out of the tank, miss the lighting, and exit through the small open area on the back of the canopy.

We used LocTite at an assebly job I had. As long as you don't use the SUPER strong version, you can get the parts off with two pair of channel locks.

I would not use loc tite on plastic threads only metal . The loc tite will tear up the plastic a lot of times when you try to remove the fittings.

Any chance of vibration from the pump causing the bulk heads to loosen? Prior to insulating my standing and putting neopren under the pump it had a fairly significant vibration to it.
