Leaking 135gal tank for free

I have a 135gal tank drilled in the back with a custom overflow with two 1" - 1 1/4" drains that has a leak in the bottom. I left it outside my place on the ground. If you would like it Please PM me and I can give you directions for pick up. If it is not picked up by Saturday, I am throwing it away.

That`s kinda what I thought. The glass is all fine so far as I can tell. Ran some water over it this afternoon and should clean up well.
Took a few snaps of it. I`ll post once I get them online.

This is the tank,

think I found the leak,

I striped the silicone that was on the bottom of the tank, wow.
just need to strip the bottom on the inside now.

I hope that it works out for you Greg. It was just more work than I was interested in tackling right then. Keep us posted.

Personally if it was me I would strip all of the silicon out of that thing. If you just try to find the leak, strip it and reseal it most of the time it just doesn't work right. Rather than repeat the process again. The other thing is once a tank springs a leak more than likely the silicon is getting old and is probable going to spring another one in a different location.

That was my train of thought, at least for the bottom, do you think I should reseal the entire tank tho? The side seams look pretty good.

If it was me I would. I have always had the best long term luck with stripping all of the silicon and redoing it. For smaller tanks a little patch job will usually work but you are looking at the possibility of a 135 gallon tank with a leak toward the bottom of the tank. I have never seen how far that much water will spread but I will tell you that 72 gallons of water will go a long way when it is spread out on the floor and if it was me I would just take the extra time and effort to make sure that I didn't have to find out how big of a mess 135 gallons would make.

Please let us know if you were able to do anything with the tank. I know that I am interested to know. Were you able to reseal it and stop it from leaking? Please post some pics of the process.

Mike,
I have alot of the old silicone scraped off as of now.
Since classes have started again it`s been pretty hectic. I`m sure the tank is resealable, just need the time to do it.
I`ll keep you updated, and thanks again for the tank.
