Leaking gate valve

I have a slight leak on my Spears (I think) gate valve on the drain of my 80 gallon tank. It appears to be leaking from the knob flange. Can I service this without my tank draining out? It does drip into my sump I'm just trying to fix future issues. Thanks

As long as your sump can handle a drain down. Shut off your return, open up the valve and tighten it a bit with the supplied "wrench" .

Mine leaked in the same spot. I took it apart and put a slightly larger o-ring around the grey shaft. You shouldn't make a mess with the pumps off.
