Leaking Rubbermaid Stock tank

Does anyone else have issues with the 100 gallon stock tank bulkhead? I attempted to full tighten and cement the bulkhead that comes with it. I filled the stock tank and it immediately began to leak from the bulkhead, even after the cement was allowed to settle. After a half hour of disconnecting the stock tank from the plumbing, I decided to completely remove the bulkhead in a fit of anger. So my next question is does a standard bulkead fit, and if not, what type of bulkhead should I use. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Get a good schedule 80 bulkhead from aquatic eco systems. You should have no problems after that. You will most likely need to re-drill it.

I personally have never had a problem with the standard rubbermaid bulkheads, plus I don't know what you are talking about with the cement.

I have read that the standard Rubbermaid are cheap and prone to leak. You mentioned a schedule 80 and need ro redrill, what about a standard bulkehead with seals on both sides. I would plug it and probably put silicone sealant to reinforce it. Anyone else with experience on this issue?

You can use any bulkhead but schedule 80 is the best. No need for silicone if done propely and the hole only needs to be reamed about a 1/8 bigger.

for my 70g rebbermaid, I got a sch. 80 1 1/4 from savko. Had to drill hole a little bigger. Didn't leak, but added silicone for peace of mind

Yeah you should replace the bulkhead on any of the rubbermaid tubs. I have had many and they all leak, changed them all out after it to, I got stand aquaium bulkheads and added silicone

I get my sched 80 BHs from Savko because they are local... You can use a 1" sched 80 BH and no need to make the hole bigger, or you can use a 1.25" sched 80 but will need to make the hole slightly bigger... Just get a threaded plug and your good to go...

I ordered a 1.5 Bulk head schedule 80 for the sump, is this too large. I read that the tank comes with a 1.5 bulhead. I know I will probably need to make the whole slightly larger, but what I read above it seems like a 1.5" is too big. Is this the case? The hole for this bulkhead needs to be 2 3/8".

The stock BH in the tubs are 1.25", They are crap and nothing like sched 40, much less sched 80... Sched 80 BH needs a slightly bigger hole then a sched 40 of the same size...

Sched 80 :
1.5" (2 5/8" hole)
2" (3 1/4" hole)

1.5" is not too big, I have removed the stock BH from a 150gal Rubbermaid poly tank and placed it with a 2" BH (3 1/4" hole)...
