Leaky push-in fitting...

I bought an RO/DI unit a little while ago, and started to install it tonight. I got everything hooked up alright, but when I turned on the water, the push-in fitting that comes off of my washer output was leaking. The rest of the fittings on the unit seem to be fine, including the ones I installed. I tried recutting the tube and pushing it in real hard, but it didn't work - it still leaks at the same rate no matter what I try. I've never used these fittings before. Is this a common problem? Is there a way to fix it? TIA

I've had the same problem before. Just keep messing around with it, eventually mine stopped leaking. Also check to see that the socket still have the little o-ring seal in it.

What kind of adapter are you hooking in to? IME, the john guest fittings work well. If the fitting is leaking it is likely the tubing is not seated all the way in. I don't have any experience with the fitting that hooks into a washer line, though. Depending on the part, most are relatively inexpensive and can be purchased locally. Lowes probably has most of what you would need. I'd do the following:

1) take the end of the tubing you are trying to insert, and push that into another john guest fitting elsewhere on the RO/DI to see how far in it goes when fully seated.
2) go back and try to insert it again into the problem fitting. If it doesn't go in as far as in #1, I'd push the tubing in really hard (I mean _really_ hard) and see if it seats the rest of the way. I doubt you'll break the fitting, and even if you did you can likely pick up a replacement locally.

If it does go in all the way and still leaks then the fitting is likely defective.

Nope...Another one of my heaters went out, so I was up trying to keep the temp on my tank up. That is 3 Warner Bros. heaters that have failed in 6 months for me.

Man, that stinks. Are those the same as the Won Brothers (http://www.wonbrothers.com/product/heater/icheater.htm)?

Maybe you can get them all replaced. They should be under warranty. You could at least sell them then and recoup some of the cost. With 3 failing in 6 months, I wouldn't trust them anymore...

Ive had 2 WON heaters fail, but since i use my controller for heat control, I just removed the thermostat and use the titanium element only.

I wouldn't buy another.
