Leather Coral Dying

prolly not the heat. My tank regularly climbs above 80 and the toadstools (and everything else for that matter) grow like weeds.

Just be patient and ride it out. The leather will survive unless it's smothered by algae before it recovers.

I might be totally wrong but isn't phosban only for removing phosphates? I don't think it does anything to your alk.

Your ca is low and your alk is off. I would concentrate on getting those back in good ranges. Post your levels in the Chemistry forum and somebody will chime in with a good fix for you. Your ph is going to vary depending on what time of day you take the reading so it's probably out of whack as well.

"I had a similar issue with my leather, he looked great when I first added him, but within a few weeks he shrunk up and turned white.. few days later I actually saw a dust of algae forming on him and there is good flow in that area... "

thats whats happening to my guy..... I'm pretty sure it'll be dead when I get home, but maybe (hopefully), I'll have the same luck as you had. If it is still alive, my plan of action will be 1) check the water temp and float ice if need be, 2) lower the coral to the bottom of the tank , 3) water change

tks again to everyone, have a nice weekend
