5 weeks ago i bot a large finger leather coral - i placed it high in the tank and it closed up and has not opened much since - at the lfs the coral sat very high on its stalk - in my tank it has flattened itself out and will slightly expand the fingers during the day but nothing like before - thinking the light was too much i moved it to the bottom of the tank with no results - doesnt appear dead just non-responsive - water is within normal tolerances on all - lighting is 2 400W MH in a 180 gallon tank. suggestions?

Sounds like you made the right choice in moving it lower. Make sure its not sitting in a deadspot, a nice laminar current will help stimulate the polps and over all health. With a nice current and a close eye on your water quality all should be fine. When they get P.O'f sometimes it'll be slow to respond, . Give it a few days(2-4).
