Leather coral problems

Hey all,
This is a picture of my leather coral. I got it this spring and had it in my tank under horrible lighting conditions. I got it from a friend who had a tank catastrophe and got rid of everything. I to this day haven't seen any polyp extension. About 2 months ago I upgraded my lighting to a coralife aqualight pro halide/compact fluorescent unit. Still, no polyp extension. I've had it for at least 4 months now. It shrinks up every night when the lights go out, and it swells back up every morning when the lights come on. All my parameters are good and all my other corals added since the new light are all doing fine. (Frogspawn, zoas, star polyp, green hairy shrooms...) Is this bad? The wound that you see there is from a fragging i just took off BTW. You can see a few little lumps that look like thats where the polyps should be coming from, but they never come out. What is this things deal???

Devils Hands can be weird about Polyp Extension. Sometimes, they never do.

Usually excellent water parameters, low Nitrates, strong lighting, and strong flow can get them opening up.

Hi J!

 Welcome to RC!

As for your leather troubles, it would really help in terms of an online analysis if we had some more info like age of tank, lighting, water parameters, flow, etc.

Anyways, hopefully we can make this work for you . . .
