Leather Coral Splitting

I have a leather (toadstool) coral that is splitting (tearing) in half. Last week it was one side now it's the other side. It's splitting sorta like a bta anemone. It's surrounded by mushroom corals so maybe that's the reason, or is this a way it reproduces? Anyone experienced with this?

They can reproduce that way, they develop necrotic areas that eventually fall away from the mother coral and grow independently.

Not sure what kind... You can kind of see it in this pic. Didn't think to go around to the other side. I was actually just testing out my new camera on my phone.

I will take a pic of the coral tonight... It's definitely splitting almost done. It's cool I will have 2 now :)

Oh that's cool, I've seen toadstools and other leathers "walking" and leaving frags behind but I didn't know they can split. Again, that's cool.

Your images just appear as links.
