leather corals

Best on rocks. Place them in the lower quadrant of your tank. They do not need that much light. The less light they have, the more they will expand. The more light they have, the less they will expand.

They don't like to be moved around either. Find a place for it and leave it alone until it takes over your tank!

Most leather corals appreciate a good amount of flow. They slough off mucus periodically, and if the water flow is moderately strong they will expend less energy during this process. In your 200 gallon tank, you probably won't see an issue, but they are also known more than other corals for broadcasting toxins to chemically compete with other corals. As I say, this likely won't be a problem for you with adequate filtration and water changes, but it's worth mentioning. Good luck!

That doesn't make sense. I have a yellow toadstool which is about 6 inches from the surface of the water. It opens up and becomes larger when the lights come on but when they go off the toadstool retracts its spines and shrinks to 1/4 the size.

I have both my devils hand leather and toadstool leather on the bottom of my tank attached to a rock and they grow tremedously large. I've been told to place them on the bottom of the tank to increase their size.
