Leather finger shedding?

Hi all,

I just wondering if anyone can help confirm my finger leather coral is OK.

I just started a reef tank as a new hobby. The lfs tested the water and said I was good to go and recommended to start with large finger leather coral to keep the balance.

After a few days, my finger leather coral appears to have a brown coat of slime on likes it's shedding.

I read a few forums that this is normal but also it could be because the water conditions aren't right.

I took measurements and looks all OK.

Any ideas?

Thanks all!!

Normal. They do that often as they grow. Helps to take a turkey baster and help blow off the shedding if you dont have flow directed at them.

Worked a treat! Skin shedded for about two weeks and now every finger has a load of little polyps and looking really nice!!

Thanks!
