Leaving the tank for a month

CORRECTION: ONLY LEAVING THE TANK FOR TWO WEEKS

I have two days before I leave my tank for two weeks. The tank only has live rock, inverts and 3 fish. It is a 125g. I will have someone stop in twice while I am gone.

My plan:
1. Pay someone to hold on to my naso tang for two weeks in a quarantine tank, and give the two clownfish away.
2. Have the friend feed the tank to keep the inverts happy and top off.
3. Keep the lights/ full circ pumps on.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I was also thinking to possibly just leave the protein skimmer on for O2 and not circ the tank. Also, maybe leave the lights off.

What do you guys think? Anyone have a QT they can throw a naso tang in?

Thanks,
Kevin

Get an auto fish feeder, put lights on a timer, have a friend check on them a few times and you should be okay. But, how much water do you lose to evaporation? As long as low water level doesn't mess up pumps, you should be good, especially if the friend stops by.

Since your 125 is a FOWLR tank, I would suggest the following:

1. Reduce the salinity level to 1.020 in the event the evaporation rate is too high before your friend can replenish the tank with RODI replacement water.
2, It is better to leave the circulation pump on than off in the event the protein skimmer malfunctions. I am assuming your protein skimmer is a hang on back type of skimmer.
3. Install an auto feeder! This will feed the clowns and inverts (not sure what type of inverts you have). If your tang is not eating pellets yet, this will help him learn to eat pellets.
4. Install a timer for your lights. Harbor Freight has some decent ones with reasonable prices....

Good luck! Give your friend our numbers. Members here can come to the rescue if there's an emergency...

Enjoy your trip. Everything will be fine....
