LED Bulk Buy

I have to buy more pieces/parts for my next LED array, plus have some people who are interested in building their own.

I've contacted Mike at RapidLED and he's willing to do a bulk/group buy. No idea on prices just yet, but he said if we can give him a list of parts we'd like he can give us a discount.

So if anyone wants anything from RapidLED please post here or let me know via PM. I'll create a spreadsheet and see what kind of deal we can get!

I was thinking about replacing my TEK fixture with LEDs. I don't want to buy new bulbs in a month or two like I should. It really depends on cost though. I can't really afford the $644 retail cost. If it could be brought down a bit, I would put some serious thought into it.Here is what I was thinking...

36 - XP-E Royal Blue 3W with 55 degree white lens
XPE-RB-55-LENS

24 - XP-G R5 Cool White 3W LED with 65 degree White Lens
XPG-65-LENS-WHITE

5 - Mean Well ELN-60-48D dimmable driver
ELN-60-48D

1 - DIY 2 color dimming kit

Would I need anything else (besides wire and heat sinks)?

Depending on the heatsink you choose, you'll need either screws or thermal adhesive.

If you go the screw route, you'll need thermal paste (non-adhesive, ie arctic silver)

You'll also need grounded power cords for the meanwell drivers.

Lang had a great question on the difference between the LEDs offered by rapid and the ones in the other group/bulk buy. Here's my response:

"I hear ya on questioning these and the other LEDs. I didn't want to sink the other thread, but didn't really trust what was being offered. Depending on the LEDs you select through RapidLED they could be much brighter or pretty much equivalent. Since there were no guaranteed details on the other group buy I decided to pass it up. My guess is that the other buy was getting an XR-E equivalent led.

I'd highly recommend the XP-G (whites) LEDs. I will be trying the XP-Es (blues) for the first time, but based on the experience with the XPGs I'm pretty sure I'll be more than satisfied."

No worries, we've got a pretty good list of folks interested. I'd just feel bad if we left someone out who was close to buying.
