LED fixture

The biggest issue is all the 3w fixtures aside from the cree one use warm white 20k+ temp whites instead of cool white. The whole white temperature thing is beyond me but from what i gather you want the cool white typically?

"cool white" is generally 12k-14k and above, which 20k is certainly cool white. Blueish hue to the light. There are some who prefer lower Kelvin, like 6500k to get some spectrum in the reds..

Bridgelux are quality LEDs as well. CREE may have been the best on the scene initially, but there are plenty that will tell you Bridgelux LEDs will work great too.

Yea not questioning the quality of the LED's, was questioning the temperature.

They seem legit, the 60w has been distributed for a few months now rebranded under various names. Wonder if all the other fixtures will soon be the same way where they list price at $100 and are sold here for 2x that. Makes me feel like i need to jump on them now while they are still offering them whole sale!

sorry gents can someone please tell me which site to contact as i am in South Africa and really interested based on the prices i see here?

for a few hundred bones like you want to spend here; get a quality system like the AI nano which covers a 20X20 area for $350. The new mazarras which will have an S series for $250-$300 and all bridgelux leds with preset controls which I have used and they work really well.

Which mazarra is $250? I am very familiar with AI, the thing is this chinese company is selling a 25 bulb bridgelux led fixture for $80.+50 shipping so you are out $130. Yea they dont have a dimmer which sucks and is the reason I didnt go buy one today just to test it lol.

That is honestly the biggest issue I see with their fixtures right now, they are lagging on dimmers for whatever reason.

Did the rep say anything about the 150 3w system being dimmer i have a 250DD gal ? this would perfect for my system. i think i might be going this route

I just purchase two 60 watt Crees direct from China. I'm located in the US.

Delivered price for 2 was about $450, complete with hangers and dual dimmers. Cost each was $155 plus shipping. With 4 mechanical timers the phasing of lighting is very nice. I don't run them full power. Very well packaged and good construction quality.

I added a couple of 7watt LED Par38's to accent a couple of corals.

I replaced two 250W MH. Light intensity seems very comparable. I figure the electrical cost savings will pay for them in less than a year.

You must not be in the united states? They have a sole reseller agreement for the united states, said its locked in until April 2012.

I am jealous, I want one of those fixtures bad, just not for the $400 price people are selling them for here when I know they paid less than $200 each.

The rep said they have a dimmer for the 50x3w and the 100x3w and are going to be putting the info on the site soon. I am annoyed I want the 25x3w dimmable because I am putting together a truvu nano 24 tank which is 21x18x16.

Ditto, I'd been looking at them for the last week, I think this exclusive deal they have in the US is a very recent thing.

All that being said instead I went ahead and just initiated an order for 2 of thier 60w Aqua Washer strips with dimmers. Total for 120 watts of LEDs shipped to the US was almost exactly what Stark LED wants for one of the 60W Cree units, sans shipping. I'm hoping they end up being just as good if not better, I could be wrong but I believe the XP LEDs the strip units use are actually slightly newer/better CREE LEDs.

Yea they tried to push the washer strips on me but my tank is only 21" long!

I am trying to find out if they plan on making the 25x3w dimmable, I am setting my tank up next week so I dont need good lights for a while so not a huge rush.

From a google search it looks like the reseller agreement happened mid july. Makes sense, people want to keep the led fixture prices inflated as long as they can.

The so called US exclusive is only for one mfg./ distributor in China. There are a number of sources and different designs. The 60W Cree I bought is sold by several different outlets in China. One 60W Cree should work just fine on your nano tank. A single fixture is only approx. 16" long by 8" wide. Remember it has two dimmers, one for the blue less and one for the white less.

They are really good units. I used two on my tank and liked it. Originally I was going to start two frag tanks with several of these units, but decided to slow down on the hobby. If you are interested, pm me. I posted my fs on the sale forum.

Which mazarra is $250? .

Maxspect is launching this second model shortly after the release of the mazarras which I received yesterday. When I asked specifically when they said a month or so out from he initial release. I would buy quality for the few extra bucks.

Graham -- what vendor did you get it from? Yea I want the 60w cree one bad because it has the dimmers and 20x3w lights which is all I need for my 21x18x16 tank.

Psionicdragon -- I have not been here long enough to go to classified!

They sent me the pdf on the new controller for the 50x3w and 100x3w.. does the 0%-100% dimming, sunrise/sunset, timers. $60 USD
