the LFS near my house has 2 kessil a150w over a 3' wide and 18" deep tank for over 3 months and the coral are doing better than under 150k halides... LEDs arnt magic you still need to use enough of them, with the appropriate optics, at the appropriate mounting height to get "ENOUGH" light. SO DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Like I did I called kessil and for a 24" deep REEF tank they recommend 1 unit for every 12-15" of width. I have a 60" tank and am ordering 4 sky blue. They will be here next week. I will take PAR readings and IF they arnt enough, I will add more light via a LED strip that is dimmable.

the W in the a150w name of these lights stands for WIDE angle, so coverage left to right is very good but depth needs help, thats why i am overlapping the coverage areas. The angle is 100-105 degrees.

The PAR at 21" under water with 8" mounting height above water is @70 so, thats why i am getting 4, they will overlap. so it will be @70+@70=@140PAR that should be what I get on my sand bed. If its over 110 i will be happy and not add the additional LED strips.

I found them doing a google search and clicking on the shopping tab for $220 from a hydroponics place in CA. got 4 on order, cant wait! should be here in a few weeks!!!

Mike keep us posted i have a 60x36x27 Sps tank with lps on the bottom. i thinking 4 would do it for me ?

hey BOX i would call Kessil, they are in California. They have all the proper info you would need to make a decision. IF i were to guess, i would say that you should arrange the kessils in a W or M pattern. mine 4 will be more of a straight line like ---- to cover 36" might need to stagger them like _-_-_ :) OR run them parrallel ===

Mike, I got 2 sky blues over my 40 breeder and am very pleased with them so far. The color is great. Although, I might pop a A350 over the center when they come out with the 2- a150's on the ends. :)
