I am looking at some of my options for an upgrade light for my 75. I am looking at Maxspect Razor 300w. I like to have a tank mount since my only option. Any other suggestions?

budget?
tank inhabitants? softies/sps/fish only?
want any "fancy" features (wifi/storm modes,etc...)?

Just upgraded to two kessils 360we and will never look back.

We have a 75 g too. Here's a pic before re doing our aquascape for reference.

Highly suggested.

I think I am going Radions. The kessils were horrible for me anyway. I never got any coralline algae from them and 3 power supplies blew on me in 2 years. If you notice a lot of people sell the Kessils. I personally didn't like them at all, but it's my opinion and everyone likes a certain look.

Not sure what coralline growth has to do with lights but if you dont like them, you dont like them? There are just as many manufacturers of other LEDs for sale as Kessil. I think you see less Chinese black boxes for sale than all of them LOL.

I am just saying for some reason I didn't get coralline algae at all from the kessils. A friend of mine said it has to do with the spectrum and wasn't sure if he was correct. However, when I switched to the t5's I got a lot of coralline.

I am wondering what the difference between Kessil A360we and the Hydra and the radion XR15 pro?

I think the Hydra won't be able to use Apex controller to control the lights.. The Kessils and Radion I believe can..

Decisions, lol

I have a Kessil and got coralline growing on everything...even on other stuff than rock, like return nozzles, powerhead, scraper, etc.

I am either going with 2 Hydra26 or 2 Radion Xr15 pro..

I personally like the rail option instead of the tank mount option of the Radion.

I can't hang them must be able to mount them on tank.

My understanding is kessils use a warm white for led and not best for corals, while the Hydra and Radions use a cool white better for corals.

The Radions I am guessing will work with the Apex and the Hydra won't..

You only have 2 channels you can control with the kessil correct? White and Blue.. The shimmer effect on kessils is amazing. This is what I read anyway. The Radion has a better controllability of Kessils and Hydra. The Radion also can be upgraded easy from generation to generation. I am really stuck with either Hydra or Radion.. I am leaning more towards Hydra though.

From the unit itself I believe it is two channel but I think they have an app that lets you do more. I've never had one, just going off what I think I remember reading in the past. I personally dont see a reason to the expensive LEDs (outside of supporting American companies) when people are getting results from $80 black boxes.

I have 2 360's on my 40b and still get shadowing... they are great lights with tons of power but you just have to run so many to get the coverage they arent worth it alone. My LFS was showing my some customer stuff he ordered for people and I was shocked of how bright and good the coverage was on the AI HYDRA 52's. bit more spendy but they had damn good coverage. When I get my 200DD going I will be running my 2 kessils for ramping and main lighting will be T5... Its just hard to deny how simple T5's are and they grow corals without the monster elect bills of halides.

If you get the Hydra HD lights they have built in WIFI control also the 52 Hydra will give you better coverage. With Radions you will have to buy the box thing to get that which is $100.

Ok so your saying two hydra 52 for a 75 gallon or would 2 hydra 26 be ok?

I have 1 Hydra 26HD on my 60 cube (24x24x24) and I get good coverage with the one light. I chose this light based upon some other reefers here locally telling me they had this light in a similar setup and had great coral growth with it. And you don't have to buy a controller for it, the free app lets you control everything from your smartphone. I am new to this so the techies may be able to point out how you may have more control with the other lights and an APEX controller, but this works fine for me.

I am torn between the hydra and radions..from what I read radios can be controlled by apex and hydra can't but not needed. Also the radios can work with the mp10 simulation

I'm sure u could get away with the 26 but the 52 will give you better coverage. Both lights are very good and don't need controllers. With the Radions you will want the WYFI box and that's going to cost you an extra $100. Even if you get the 52's it will cost less then the Radions. Your going to need two lights no matter which one you choose. If you have some MP power heads then that is something to consider. The lights and power heads will all work on the same system. The Built in WIFI and the cost is what made my go with the Hydra's. I'm pretty sure you have to get the HD Hydra's to get the WIFI.
