Hi guys, I am new to SW tanks and planning my 75g LPS tank. Looking at lighting LED seems best for the long run. Anyways saw this on ebay, was wondering if anyone can give me some pointers to this LED light and the possibilities of cooking your corals form this system.

Thanks

Yes, those will work for reef lights. I've got 2 very similar units over my 90 gal. You just have to be patient when adding corals. Start them on the sand bed and slowly move them up.

What I've seen is that just because they look the same on the outside, the outside may look similar, the LED components and drivers are different from fixture to fixture. I personally like buying stuff where I know I can get support if I run into any issues.

Agree with you b16. I got mine from Reefkoi. I've got a warranty and know who to call if something goes wrong. There is something to say about having support, even if you think you may not use it.

These lights are exact copies or the samelights tha reefkoi sell. From the on/off switches to the leds themselves. These lights are also $100 cheaper than the reefkoi's. I was going to get reefkois but im going with these.

Thanks for the quick reply guys. The ebay seller listed par values in the description. It says about 150 par at 24" depth, is that enough for reef? Too bad it has no dimmers for the white and blue though.

I would really consider the customer service, warranty, and availability of service if you need it. This company may be 100% legit, and if so, go for it. I believe a guy in our local club got some of these too, we just haven't seen any updates since. Good luck in your decision...

funny... those look EXACTLY like the LED's my LFS is selling for $400... if they are indeed the same they arent bad looking. obviously no controller and no on board timers but a basic barebones unit. They look good over the LFS DT but I think for the price I would pass...

good luck,

Mark

This one looks like it only has one cord (So on/off only). I am pretty sure the one Reefkoi has 2-cords.

Other than that they do look the same. Not sure about the combination of bulbs / LED brand.

I emailed the guy with these lights. They are old pictures of the first ones that came out. they all have 2 cords now. When reefkoi's first came out, his had 1 cord also.

These look exactly like the lights that came with my Cadlights system. I've had them since November and couldn't be happier. I have have had growth on my SPS and chalices. It's also not too bad on the electric bill.

I just ordered one. I need at least 3 of them also, but just trying one out for now to see if I like it before investing all that money. I'll let everyone know what I think after I set it up. It will be replacing one of my 250 MH pendants, so should be a good test.
