LED Lighting advice

hello. im currently planning a tank for the new family home that is currently being built and would like some help with choosing a light fixture.

im currently strongly leaning towards a LED light system to help combat rising local electricity costs and prevent inevitable problems i would have had with heat on a previously planned mh system.

The planned tank will be a 180g 6x2x2 built into a wall crevice with a cabinet built around it. Further down the line i would like to be able to keep a wide variety of corals and so need a set up that will allow this flexibility and growth of my tank.

after some helpful advice and looking at a few different fixtures , my current front runner is a set of aqua illumination LED fixtures:

possibly paired with a GHL Profilux controller if finances permit :D

im not particularly handy so am reluctant to stroll down the DIY path.

so, onto my questions

1. are the aqua illumination fixtures right for me and will they meet my needs? and if not, can anybody suggest some other fixtures for me to consider.

2. If the AI fixtures are suitable, how many would be needed to sufficiently illuminate a 6x2x2 tank, ive seen recommendations for both 4 and 6 units for a tank this size.

3. i know this is largely a matter of personal preferance, but if possible id also like some help deciding between the white and blue AI options

Though the tank itself is still atleast a few months away, id like to start purchasing pieces of gear from now to take advantage of the currently strong Australian dollar

Thank you :D

You don't need much advise if you are going AI route, its all set. For your tank size I will do at least 5 modules, 6 is optimal for SPS dominated tank. 5 should be enough hang it a little higher around 12 inch off the tank to give it better spread.

thanks kenjung, so 4 would not be enough?
the tank will not be sps dominated to begin with but if i choose to add more sps in the future am i correct in assuming that i can purchase and add the extra 6th module at a later time?

How long is your tank?
I have 3 on my 110 that is 48" long, and no shadow areas, 6" off the water:fun2:

the tank is 6ft long (72'')

Well depending on your rock arrangement 4 could do it. The beauty of these lights is you can add more if needed:spin1:

One tip to make 4 lights work is to create islands and place the lights over the islands:thumbsup:

your tank is absolutely gorgeous shelby!

i really like the colour that your getting out of your led's aswell. are all three of them sol blues?
