LED lighting estimates

My Christmas gift to myself is new lighting, so I'd like to get some estimates on LED lighting for my 6' long, 150 gallon tank. I'll be calling Mike from Ultrashine next week, but is there anyone else that does it so I can have a comparison?

Thanks

I have a 75G and I bought some ecoxotic and I am very pleased with the product. I bought two Retrofit panorama and 3 x 445nm blue Panorama pro. I am saving a bunch of money compared to the old MH setup I had. I wish I had bought just the Panorama Pro blue and white instead of the Retrofit Panorama because it is more modular. This summer I had a bunch of LED burn on the pro due to (Just speculations) a very hot summer, saltwater splashing on the LED themselves or not having raisers. Having said that the module were under warranty and the exchange was event free all 3. The growth over the last year has been very good (SPS,LPS), but light only will not guarantee growth. Water quality is very important.

I hope this helps.

Who is Ultrashine??? You may want to look at more common fixtures like Ecotech Radion or the Aquailluminations SOL or Vega or more strip like types like Reefbrite or Ecoxotic. Really need to know a little more about what you would like this 150 to have in it, are we talking SPS or some Mushrooms??

Actually their website is ultrashineled.com and I saw them on craigslist. My problem is that I don't know what is the best setup for my tank so I need some expert advice, especially with how they would fit in the top of my tank.

agree. FOWLR, softy, mixed, or sps? switching to LEDs to save power consumption? beter color scheme? Many different ways to hang a fixture and can easily be installed in a hood

for LEDs that grow coral properly: you get what you pay for, do your research.

I have an ultrashine fixture, if you want to PM me for more info

I would stick with Ecotech, AI, Pacific Sun, Vertex Illumina. I have had great success with the Radions in my 120g keeping SPS, softies, LPS & anemones. Good color & growth.

The ecoexotic will mount (Screw in) your existing canopy. You can email their support and give them your tank dimension and what you are looking to do and they will put the kit together for you. Then you can just price it out on their website. My kit cost me around 1000$

Those Ecoxotic Panoramas (both originals and the newer Pros) have too many reports of diodes going out well before they should for my comfort, although I have a pair of Stunners still going strong now for over 2 years on my 5g freshwater tank.

I would look into the EcoTech Radions or Maxspect Razors - the razors are the best bang for the buck out there for LEDs capable of lighting larger systems IMO.

I am not a big fan of fixtures that just use royal blue (even combined with "cool blue"/ standard blue) and cool white - limited color rendering becomes quite obvious when compared to fixtures using additional colors such as red, cyan (or green) and violet.

if your on a budget look ate the chineese black boxes that they talk about on the lighting forums titled chinese led lights, just an option
