So I traded my mag 9.5 for a set of lights with Amearas! Talk about AWESOME! I think he got took these things are so awesome! (kidding Anthony)

anyways, I got the head unit which has 8 LED's on it and 8 "streamers" which are basicaly single LED's on a sorta octopus looking thing. I placed a pair on each end, and a pair between each of the Halide reflectors for a total of 4 rows of 2 lights. the head unit was a bit too strong for the tank, so it is just pointed away from the water. it may get relocated to under the stand. ill have to see.

anyways, these things are AWESOME and well worth what he sells them for. It comes with the power supply, the head unit, and 2 sets of streamers and all the wire necessary. click on the photo and it will load a video of the tank. I love how they shimmer. the floor in our fish room is lit up with the shimmer...

He may get mad for calling him Adrian, It's Anthony unless he changed his name LOL
I'm suprised you think the head unit is too bright, I use mine on my 59gal and love it.

Bill. dont know what you are talking about....:strange:

with the enclosed hood I have it ended up being about 4" from the water surface as that was the only place I could center it. with it like that, there would have not been any night time on the reef!

fwiw, im going to put a hidden switch in the stand so I can flick it to change the colors. the RED looks pretty sweet. the rest are really bright!

I like those led. Ive seen bills and rhett. Anthony I need a hook up you need some frags. LOL

I have mine about a foot high above the tank and it is on the left side. It actually lights the whole tank and i just use it from lights off until 1:00AM.
It gives great veiwing time at night when all the creepy crawly's come out.
Some of the colors are bright but the blue works best for me.
Bill;) OK

Yea, I dont have the room to do that with the hood. ill hook mine to a timer today so they come on just before the actinics go off and run till the late.

Zef I can hook you up. For those of you who already have the lights, I have talked to the manufacturer and he said that you can put them on a dimmer if you want to. I havent had the time to get one yet, but I am going to try it out and see what happens. Also, I have found out that if you take a standard wall charger that is 120V AC to 12V AC the control of the lights responds like it is supposed to, meaning that it will actually cycle throught the colors one at a time and it will run through the "color wash" cycle where it fades throught all of the colors in sequence. Just a note for anyone who wants to try it. The power supplies that I have are 120V AC to 12V DC, which only gives it power, not memory (for lack of a better term).

FWIW, I put a small automotive switch in line on between the transformer and the lights. flick the switch off and then on again, and the color changes. it is done manually, but works so you can change the colors if you wish. it was a pretty simple install. I only spliced in the hotwire for the switch.

I wanted to add a bit of an update to this. the Head unit was too bright for my liking in the tank so I just sorta hid it in the corner. last night I got an idear! I took the main part of the light and put it facing up behind the tank. remember those Wall Expressions my wife sells? you betcha! check this out!
