There are sooooo many manufacturers getting into LEDs nowadays. I'm looking into options, but I'm not really sure where to begin. I have a 55 Gal (48"x13"x21") currently, but also looking at upgrading to 75-90gal. I know there are a lot of posts on the subject, but doesn't seem that ppl look at wattage anymore.
For example:
1) Aqua Illumination (AI SOL): http://www.aquaillumination.com/sol/
So, for my 48" tank, each manufacturer recommends 2 lights. Sunbright says two of the 24W fixtures are sufficient to light my 48" tank? Um"¦.huh? That's only 48W. Compare to AI, which recommends 150W for the same tank dimensions. What's going on here?
I like the look & price of the Sunbright, but am very skeptical of their PAR claims.
For example:
1) Aqua Illumination (AI SOL): http://www.aquaillumination.com/sol/
a. Price: $550 + $80 for controller
b. 75W
c. Uses 3W Cree LEDs
d. PAR claims: http://www.aquaillumination.com/sol/performance.html
e. Looks are meh (IMHO), needs some kind of hanging kit.
- a. Price: $250 - $379
b. 24 "“ 50W
c. Uses 12-18 x 3W Cree LEDs
d. PAR claims (50W):280 PAR(60degree,24''depth);180 PAR(80degree,24''depth)
e. Looks pretty slick, esp. on rimless tanks
