LED Question

I currently have a 125gallon mixed reef. In an effort to control costs initially I purchased 4 3' Trumen LED units (2- 10K 2 Actinic). Unfortunately these units only use 1W LEDs. I have been using this set up for 9 months and all of the coral seem to be doing OK. I am not seeing much growth from most of my coral with the exception of my duncans and tree coral. I am seeing very limited or no growth from my birdnest, scroll, montis, chalice, blasto, horn, frogspawn, hammer and brains.

My water quality is good--nitrates a little high @ 10ppm. I have good water flow with 1 WP-40 and 2 other powerbeads. Therefore I am beginning to suspect that the lighting is the issue.

I really do not want to scrap the lights I have and I was think of adding a two 3' DIY strips that have 3W LEDs to supplement the current lights and to add a little more penetration. Does this plan make sense or should I get rid of the Trulumen and start from scratch?
