LED short list

I was down to 2 choices for LEDs, but came across a used unit for sale, so thought I'd throw this one out there. I'm not spending more than 500$ on lighting. No way, no how. This is going over a standard 75G 48"x18"x18" tank.

For the budget concerns, I was willing to trade features.

Someone locally is selling a Maxspect R420r 160w 16k for 350$
My original two options were

A pair of OceanRevive T247s
A single IT2080

OceanRevive isn't sold in Canada, so I'd have to have import it. I can get the IT2080 locally, with local 3 year warranty... which may be the deciding factor.

I'll be making my first soft coral purchases soon-ish, and don't want to limit species down the road too much because of an inability to light them.

Thoughts?

ocean revive delivers to Canada as I Just received mine today one week from purchase time. But as I am not adding coral until after Christmas the wife has put it up for Christmas lol. had it on the tank to see what it looked like and i am very happy with the T247. I am in Quebec as well

The reef breeders is the same light, but they ask a lot more, plus another 50$ international shipping. How it's so much more to ship to Canada from the US, rather than from China, I'll never understand.

Ocean Revive was VERY snappy on the email when I asked a few questions, I'm impressed.

I decided to go with the Ocean Revive. Not the most full featured, but best value I can see. Plus it allows be to buy "half" my light now, and put some money into livestock. It's not like I'll be buying a tank full of grown out corals all at once, so I have plenty of time to place a few frags at one end and see how they do, eventually lighting the other end with another of the same fixture.

Excellent choice. I am well pleased with her sister, the Photon48. I made sure to ramp up slowly and hang it 12" because mine came with 90 optics. Enjoy.

Finally settled on the Ocean Revive T247. I ordered it on Thursday night, and received it Tuesday morning. Hong Kong to Montreal. Very impressed with the delivery time, as well as the quick responses to the few questions I had both on these forums and email.

Sleek unit, and is exactly what I wanted. No frills or features I won't use, just a built in timer and 2 channels of 3W LEDs. I can't wait to order my 2nd one!

Once I get the second unit I've planned for, I'll simulate "sunrise" by turning on the blues of each 10 minutes apart, and then the other channel, also 10 minutes apart.

Hi W1ngz,

do you know where in Montreal that I could buy OceanRevive IT 2081?

So far are you happy with your led?

Thanks,

/Van.

I don't think anyone local sells ocean revive. As far as I know, they only sell direct online. The IT2081 looks just like the Evergrow IT2080, except with a bracket instead of cables. ReefSupplies sells Evergrow, but I don't know if they regularly stock it.

I like the 247. But this is my first reef, and first LED so I have no benchmark to compare to. Sometimes, I think the colours look washed out compared to other more expensive lights, but what I paid for 2, wouldn't even buy me one of those, so value to features, it's excellent.
