Are the led mods for the jbj nano worth the money and which ones are the best?

Seems a lot of people like the Steve's kits. I personally just went with a Sb reef lights nano sprite for my jbj 28. I was able to mount it in the stock hood with only the adjustment knobs poking through the top of the hood.

I went with RapidLED's Aurora Puck retrofit kit with a Storm controller.. very happy with it !!

Was the retro fit easily able to be installed i wired up schools when i was younger but I'm not an electrician. to the first reply is that lighting better than what you had and how do the leds do as far as algae growth?

I found it to be rather easy to do and the support from RapidLED is very good. Tank has been up and running for a couple months with no algae issues. There are 5 fish in the tank Ali g with a Blood shrimp and clean up crew. Corals are down in my QT tank and should be moving in soon. Algae issues are much more related to husbandry then to lights. That being said , the light is full spectrum and you can control 4 channels of light via the Storm Controller..

I have the correct clean up crew, i have two emerald crabs a peppermint shrimp, 5 or six blue legs and a couple of hermit crabs and 6 turbo snails. i take good care of my tank but i have been away from the hobby for 15 years, that is why i ask questions that i do not know the answers to . Knowledge is what keeps people from killing there fish and corals. Leds are something that we didn't have back then is was all power compacts. I have noticed that the leds are much more colorful.

I actually just put the Sb reef sprite on today. Much more blue than I was used to and definitely much less controllable than the rapid led lights. But the price point really made them idea. $130 for a light that should be all I need for the tank.

The only change I may do is remove the optics to get a bit more spread since the light is so close to the water. I think it has plenty of power to do that and still be able to grow everything I want.

Already noticing my corals opening more with this light. My other light was 25 watts of 14k leds so this is a big jump in power. Definitely noticing shading so I am going to have to take the optics off to get a bit more spread.
