left out frozen mysys overnight

Once a week I put 4-5 cubes each of different food types (mysis, brine shrimp, veggie, clam) into a small glass container.
I thaw them, add some amino acids, mix well, let it soak for an hour then feed the tank, then refreeze.

The next next day I thaw the entire amount by putting the container in warm water, then feed. I repeat this all week. I've always feed in this manner.

When they see me tank side with the food, it's a feeding frenzy! The Fish are fat and happy!

So as far as thawing/refreezing, it works for me.

My LFS is a2 hour drive. When I buy LRS or mysis they always thaw by time I get home, even if I put them in a cooler. I just toss them back in the freezer and let them refreeze. They do seem to get a slight bit mushier(not as chunky), like LRS reef frenzy doesn't have those big chunks anymore, but my fish seem to like the smaller bits anyways.

How do we know these foods we buy at the LFS haven't already been thawed out and refroze before? We've all heard the stories of livestock being DOA due to weather conditions, wouldn't the same rules apply to food as well? I would like to think that they're still frozen solid when they arrive at the store, but when it's 100+ degrees out and the shipment is not put away in a hurry then I'm pretty sure a lot of them have turned to mush before. throw it away,,learn from the mistake...
theres no amount of rotten food worth the aggravation it could cause if something goes wrong with fish or other animals it is being fed to..

Being left out for 12 hours isn't what I'd consider rotting away. If it's still chilled, not smelly, or discolored, you SHOULD be fine. Wanna err on the cautious side, scrap it. Not a big
loss. Buy some more and don't leave it out next time! FYI, IF you've bought frozen food from your LFS, there's a GREAT chance you've bought refrozen food from your LFS. Comes with the territory. Especially in the warmer months. Unless they're buying a boatload shipped in dry ice. Most wholesalers have frozen foods trucked in. Some thawing naturally has to occur.

I treat my fish like I would treat myself or my dogs or my birds,if I left some salmon out for dinner one night and forgot to cook it, I'm throwing it away the next day...

You do know that if you happen to pass away from natural causes and nobody was around for awhile those dogs would probably eat you. Kind of morbid, but stuff like this does happen. Even in a horrible plane accident over the south pacific and you wind up on the reef those fish would have a field day... Like a said before this is kind of dark, but it's the truth...

Don't OVER think it... ;)

Refreeze!

Fish food rots overnight, and dogs who like trash are unruly.. What's this world coming to....? I hope ASPCA or PETA isn't keeping close tabs on this pivotal discussion. Hold on... Think those are cops at my door.....

For those of you who do say toss it, what do you think is going to happen to your inhabitants if they do in fact eat fish food that has been left on the counter overnight? (thawed) Don't just say yuck, define it please...

Those in the know will use it... Do you really think that LFS is going to throw out a whole batch of frozen food that turned to mush in transit? I think not... C'mon man...
