Bay Area Reefers (BAR) is pleased to present Craig Bingman as our featured speaker for our June meeting.

Talk Title:
Everything you always wanted to know about reef aquarium chemistry, but was afraid to ask.

Talk Synopsis:
Bingman will take you on a comprehensive, whirlwind tour of the important water quality parameters that contribute to a successful reef aquarium. The tour spans billions of years and millions of miles, and winds up in your sump. The talk is interactive and engaging: you may never look at your test kits the same way again.

Speaker Bio:
A seasoned veteran of aquarium chemistry, Craig's involvement in the marine aquarium hobby reaches back to the early 1980s. He has been involved in the reef aquarium movement since the early 1990s. Author of dozens of articles, primarily in the dearly departed Aquarium Frontiers, Craig has written extensively on reef aquarium chemistry, with an emphasis on calcification and related parameters. He is also interested in auto fluorescent pigments in corals, nutrient management, foam fractionators, activated carbon, and the biochemical dynamics of semi-closed systems.

Hey David...

from the sticky on this, and all club forums...

In the continuing effort to curb forum spam while at the same time supporting the local clubs the staff of Reef Central asks that advertising club events remain limited to the forum of the club holding the event. Additional advertising is provided in the announcement forum and in Reef Keeping magazine. Neighboring clubs who wish to support each other’s events can do so by having a club officer post the neighbors’ event in their forum. This will prevent conflict between club events and help reduce the possibility of abuse while allowing each club the privilege of advertising in the forums provided through the web site. We realize the importance of club events and the need to advertise them but at the same we all must respect the boundaries of our neighbors, as the events they are holding are just as important to them as yours is to you.

Thank you for the kind consideration, Anne and Anthony! When we have great speakers take time out of their schedule to speak at a BAR event, we want to make sure that anyone interested can take part in the experience. At the end of the day we all share the same goals of improving our understanding and husbandry. Cheers!
