Lemonpeel Angelfish- suitable for reefs?

Hello

Of course I SHOULD have appealed to your advice BEFORE buying a 2-3" adorable lemonpeel angelfish. It ate flakes in the LFS, so I couldn't resist...

I have an established 44g reef tank w' a few fish, a thick bed of caulerpa that a manually prune every week, seasoned live rock, and a few scavengers (no serious coral beyond feather duster & a few zoos...).

The lemonpeel seems to be acclimating well, but what can I do to ensure its health and happiness?

Your thought? Thanks,

Flamehawkfish

Sorry to say that, from what I´ve read and heard, it´s problably the worse centropyge and one of the worst angels to place in a reef

Well, that sounds pretty morbid.
Can you explain? Beyond being very finicky eaters, I never knew of their reputations as 'one of the worst angels for the reeftank'...

Please let me know. Right now, it's grazing but not disturbing any of the other critters...

I never had one, but both from what I´ve read and the 7 reefers I know that have/had one told me, that fish is always described this way.

One of them has a 1400g tank with several large angels (Queen, Emperor, Navarchus and Regal), with SPS and some softies, and the Lemonpeel was the only one that was a real problem even with the SPS. Not only nibbling (spelling ok ?), but in fact eating some corals "to the bone". He´s trying to catch the fish for a while, now.

Maybe, just maybe you get lucky, but the odds...

Wow! I thought that Lemonpeels were picky- not overpowering- eaters. That sounds like quite a reef tank- a Queen, Emperor, and a Lemonpeel. Good luck catching that little lemonpeel in a 1400g tank; they can conform to any crease or crevice within the rocks. So far, mine seems to be adapting, but time will tell...

Share pics of that enormous tank if you've got any...

Thanks for your feedback. Anyone else have experience w' Lemonpeels in a reef tank?

I had to tear my tank down to catch one. They are beautiful fish & it behaved for a week or two in the main tank. Then it started continually nipping at clams & my sacrophyton leathers. It killed 2 clams before I decided it had to go.I had some SPS at the time & it didn't touch them, but I think it would of killed the remaining clams/leathers in short order.HTH.

No problem. It sounds like an amazing (and probably time-consuming tank. Here are a few photos of my new Lemonpeel. Let me know if you cannot see them.

Anybody have success keeping these guys in a reef tank?
