Leopard Wrasse

Where's The Reef?
Hey there, Hi there, Ho there!

I've been wanting a leopard wrasse pair (Male & Female), a Blue star Pair to be specific.I think I have enough Copepods, the tank is 2 years old.I took a piece of rubble rock out of my tank, I soaked it in peroxide to kill some algae, I think I killed 1 million+ Pods! They came scurrying out of the rock, there was a ton, on just a little piece of rock, the tank has 120lbs of rock, so I can only assume there might be a few more pods in there! Are these invert safe in a reef?Any tips to keeping one?QT proceedure? How long till it started eating Mysis or whatever it started eating?

Its a lengthy read but all the info you'll need is here, http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1486086

As far as invert safe, IMO, yes. I just aquired an M. meleagris and it took him roughly a week to figure out what all the fuss was about at feeding time. Feeding isnt really the issue though as much as it is getting a healthy fish in the first place, they dont handle shipping very well at all. QT is a tough subject on these wrasses, some people do but most do not. Read up and choose what you feel will be your best approach, fwiw, I do not.

I keep a pair of BS's. I would QT them first, if for no other reason that to get them healthy and eating before introducing them in to the DT. Mine pick at the pods all day long and will only eat the mysis at feeding time...they don't touch the pellets. Here is what I did in the QT for them:

When I was ready to introduce them into the DT, I just placed the lid on the top of the container before they emerged in the morning, and put the whole container into the DT. I left it there until I saw they had selected another bedroom.

Alright, sounds like I'm Gunna let my LFS get them for me, the Owner will get me a healthy pair.

Thanks for the info!
