Let`s see those Scolys

One question. Do all the pretty scolys, like the ones you see here on this thread come from Australia? Just wondering? I have been there and wonder where they collect them. I thought the whole reef over there was protected unless some are getting CITES permits which are difficult to get. Since these Scolys have not been successfully fragged in the hobby these corals must all be wild caught. I heard of someone cutting them in two and getting them to heal over. I guess that is an expensive gamble. I heard they split by producing two mouths and then eventually pinching the skeleton. i have seen donuts do it. Must take a long time.

From my understanding they are legal to harvest. Also there have been successful fragging of scolys as of late.

what levels(ca, alk, sp, ect...) do you think scolys like the best?

I've had good luck keeping my Ca @ 420-440, Alk @ 9-10 DKH, Spg. @ 1.026 and Mag @ 1400. The most important thing in my experience is to feed them 3 - 4 times per week, some people don't and their Scolys do just fine, but I've had better luck with regular feedings.

i have never owned a scolly before, i just started collecting some LPS i have a SPS tank and just want some ultra LPS for the sandbed/shady areas.

Wow, that thing sure has some very fiery coloration. I'd name it "Inferno" if I were into marketing! LOL
