Agreed...if you're worried about the health of fish you're getting, you should QT them first. Actually, I'm an advocate of QT'ing ALL new fish coming in. Might as well get it set up now since you'll be getting alot of fish over the coming months. Just do like I did, set up a 29 gal with the intention of leaving it running for several months. If you space out your fish purchases you'll pretty much have fish in the QT for months as well. Mine is right next to my computer here so that I can keep an eye on the newbies. There's a cherup peeping out at me from a piece of PVC right now. :)

when you QT do you right off the bat do it with low salinity or do you wait for signs of problems before dropping the salinity/adding copper?
 
Actually, to be more detailed, from what I've read in the disease forum, FW dips can be used for temporary relief of infected fish. They would dip heavily infected fish which would get some of the ich or other organisms to drop off, but it wasn't in any means a "cure" to anything. I do not FW dip anything. I QT, observe, and if the fish shows signs of ich, I use hyposalinity treatment as per the articles in the disease forum. If it showed signs of something else, then I'd treat accordingly in QT.
 
The QT is set up to try and mimic the display tank in terms of temp, salinity, pH, etc. I even use some water from the display to put into the QT. If the fish shows signs of disease, then the treatment begins...so no, I don't start right off with hypo.
 
As for the Chromis...I had 6 in a 135 for a few months and they never messed with eachother. But I also had a large lionfish and other things in there so maybe they needed eachother so they did ok.

What does it look like?

Give it time, like I said it was only about an inch tall and was only a single stalk. It'll probably make it fine.
