Upper right and middle left in the Tunze stream deco rocks. I for one do not like the mechanics of my system to take away from the beauty of my reef so I keep it all as hidden as possible.
BTW this pic is about 1 year old, I really need to get some new pics.
Yeah I had 4 in my 180 in deco rocks but i hated the deco rocks I felt i did not have that great of flow with them I am tring to get some good ideas from others set ups for my new tank. I am thinkin im gonna go with magnets though this time
I think I've got pretty good flow with the 2 6100's on a controller. I think having them pointed directly across from each other makes for nice chaotic flow. Polyps are flying all over the place!
I set them up this way for a few reasons. I did not want the 6100's pushing flow over the islands directly so I bounce the flow at a slight angle on the front glass. It does create the problem of not being able to keep the sand down front. This is not a major concern because I have panned for enrusting montipora to cover the area.
The wave box on the side and centered. With this posistion I get almost a 2 inch wave. Poylp extension is good even with the lights on. Nothing is able to settle on the bottom either.
That tank is AMAZING is that reef ceramics in your tank ????? I know a guy in Staten Island that sells them and for good prices i was thinking of picking up a few
that is all reef ceramics in the tank. I am getting some more live rock to help the coralline process along but beyond that I am happy with them and the Tunze's!
I like the 6100's in the back facing the front glass because I get a gentle flow on all the corals. No corals get blasted like when I place the streams lengthwise. The 6000 is behind the rocks on the bottom to blow out detritus.
2 most forward ones point across the reef those are my 6200's the rear coners are 6100 and pointed crossways towards the front middle. The last 6100 blows across the reef on the back side.
The wave box gets flow into tight areas and deep in colonies.
I don't have pics however when I finish with my 90 I will have 2 Mag Drive 36 connected to a closed loop which will give me a gross turnover of 80 xph. There will be a manifold that sits on top of the aquarium with 4 loc-line tubes.
I have it arranged so the pump on the left is actually blowing on the right structure and the pump on the right is blowing on the left reef structure. Youll notice the pump on the right side is not completely in the corner, thats because it was blowing on the right reef structure too much.
I have the pumps on "chance flow" mode, plugged into ports 2 and 4 on the multicontroller. This results in both pumps off for a few seconds, then the pump on the left alternating from 30%-100% for a few seconds, then both pumps alternating between 30%-100%, then both pumps off again.
