Well... my guy's only half powder blue... a naturally occurring hybrid with Acanthurus nigricans... but fat and happy... with me about eight years now... goes after anything new that eats algae... even the magnet cleaner!!

I just added a Starcki Damsel, and my powder blue tang went nuts. I had to pull the damsel out because I thought for sure the tang was gonna kill my little damsel. I know it's just a damsel, but it's kind of my unicorn. I've been keeping aquariums for 15 years and i've only seen one of them around the LFS stores in Ohio and I bought him.

How long does the aggression usually last for your tang?

Between a day or so and forever... unfortunately. get a good fish trap and get the fish accustomed to feeding inside of it so that you could hold the tang for periods of time when adding new fish. The grouping within Acanthurus that includes powder blues is an especially aggressive group within a generally aggressive family... my wife once asked me who I was swearing at in the basement on the phone one night... I was not on the phone... and I was not swearing at a person... it was my powder blue hybrid!:headwallblue:

I appreciate that bit of advice, I've definitely been that guy swearing at my tank before. I hate to do it, but i'm considering trading this guy in for a juvi chevron.

I'm also considering removing the tang and adding the damsel, and then after a couple of weeks, re-introducing the tang. I'll try to get a picture up of my PBT, since that is what this thread is about.
