Let's see your mantis shrimp tank

Here my 4" O.S. Eclipse 5 gallon. It is very temporary, previously holding a G ternatensis for a month while we waited to get this shrimp.
My girlfriend calls any mantis a "cockster" as it looks half cockroach/half lobster. I call him Cockster Deluxe, as the peacock variety is really big/pretty.

i got 3 mantis hitch hickers in my TBS rock and they are currently in my fuge, trying to decide if i want to keep or give away , is it possible to have 3 in a tank and if so what size would it need to be, and what kind of conditions do they need?

what is the smallest size tank i could get and what filtration, lighting, etc? does it really matter much?

Nanocube DX's work great as a Mantis tank. If the mantis will stay small. If it is a N. Wenn., then it shouldn't get over 3" and a Nanocube will be perfect.

Here are my 3 mantis.

wow, they are all nice looking, how will you decide which one to keep? I like the first and third ones best.

yea, im thinking about getting a 20 gallon and splitting it in half, keeping the first and 3rd, and giving 2nd to a friend. but if not then i think im gonna go with the 1st because he seams to have the most personality and is the biggest. but i dont know

kindafun, Great Pics!!! Have you been able to ID any of those??? I agree with LisaD, that third is the best. The coloration onthe second though is certaintly unique! The first is kinda girly colored... Where did you find these guys??

Hey this is Jeff... Kindafun is my dad, we found them on the 2nd half of our TBS rock, and no we havent ID them yet, was hopping for some help, any suggestions?

Looks like it may be a Odontodactylus brevirostris, slightly different color clubs, but I now there are many different color variations on the wennera....

I'm trying to get a feel for an appropriate tank for a 5in peacock mantis.
so, you all have some live rock, some rubble, at least 2-3 inches of sand, low light?, and maybe a pvc burrow at the least?

any other specific requirements other than at least adequate water quality? ie do they prefer low flow?
