Lets see your purple people eater palys.

I see some that a deep dark purple and some that are faded purple, any reason why this happens?

Also how slow is the growth on these?

Thanks

Mine grow quite well, a head a month I'd say. I'd expect as the colony gets larger it will pic up it growth rate as well.

my question is how the hell do you get these things to grow. i had two polyps forever and they only seem to grow when cut.

You are on to something there ;)

I've had one PPE for months. Looks healthy, but doesn't grow. All my other zoas are adding more and more polyps (one frag went from 5 polyps a few months ago to 17 polyps now), but the PPE's don't want to grow out!

seeing the rocks with like ten polyps is crazy. they had to be cut for them to grow like that.

Not once i got to about 7-10 polyps. I started with one and it took several months for a baby to sprout. When it was an adult polyp i cut between them and in a few weeks both polyps sprouted a new one. I did 1 more cut and then left them alone. Not sure why they grow faster when they are cut but they do.

Since i've got about 20 polyps now, i see a new bud about once every 10 days. The new buds still take a long time to grow to adult polyps though.

You also might try feeding it.

Mine get whatever i feed the fish. They are in direct line of my sureflow mj mod but at the opposite side of the tank. The food floats right to them. I feed mysis, plankton, brine, emeral entree, and flake food.

Good way to feed them. I use a lot of high quality pellet, so I'm going to start target feeding some frozen cyclopeeze at night. We'll see if that helps.

I really like your avatar pic by the way.
