Let's talk Iodine

I test periodically for Iodine with the Salifert test kit. I only do the Iodide test and the result is always 0. I don't dose.

I have seen some opinions that dosing Iodine will help with coloring and also opinions that dosing is not necessary as water changes will provide all the Iodime that we need.

What would be the harm of dosing if testing is done to insure no overdosing?

I squirt some of this in my tank every few days. I bought it on a recommendation from someone because my zoas wouldn't open. My zoas still aren't open, but my toadstool, mushrooms, gonapora and green star polyp look a lot better since I have been adding it. Poylps extended and growth has increased. All my other coral look the same.

I don't test but I put in 1/10 of the recomended dosage.
