let's talk overflows

I am in the process of setting up a 220 penninsula tank. I plan on plumbing the tank from one of the ends. I want to drill the tank and install an overflow box/boxes. I have seen several brands Synergy, glass holes, and Reef Savy.
On of the things that concern me is where in the tank the water level will be?
Hss anyonr used any of these and where did your water level end up.

Your water level will be dependent on how low you'd drill the holes. Obv the lower the holes the lower the waterline. I did a off brand of the reef savvy ghost box. I can't remember off the top of my head how low I drilled the holes but my waterline is just below the top trim.

I guess that is my question where will my water line be, I have to deal with the rim of the tank and can I get the overflow high enough to have the water line above the lower edge of the rim.

I guess you'd be able to if the internal box was high enough. So basically you'd have to have the internal box holes drilled lower so once assembled the outside box will fit below the outside rim. Then the inside overflow box will sit higher then the outside rim. This way your waterline will be high enough to basically be above the rim.

Mine shows the water line by about 3/16" but I'm ok with that. It helps to not be to close to the surface if/when you get any kind of wave action going on.

THis is what my waterline looks like, pic taken when I fist setup the tank. You can see the small wave.
