I'm setting up a new 150g,(48wx24dx30h) and the tile floor is just a tiny bit off level left-right.

Is this important?

What's the best way to level the stand/aquarium?

out of level can be a big problem *IF* it makes the stand off level or allows it to "Flex" or "Bend" in any way....

depending on the size of the tank and stand and how much the floor is "out of level" you may need to do different things....

one extreem is to re-tile the floor :)

possibly get a large section of plywood to set the stand on and then put shims under the plywood and level that so that the whole stand is on a level surface.

one time I used shims on a stand on carpet to good results...

you can get shims at any hardware store like home depot.

also I have a "Post Level" that helps.

it's a set of levels built on a plastic housing that you can hang on the top of the tank and go around the tank checking left-right and front-back at one time...

also folks use sheets of styrafoam .... between a tank and a stand.

but I perfer to start at the floor and get that solid first!

ill second that. shims would prob be your answer. def. spend some time on getting it level. it might even be worth getting a local carpentar to help level it. just a thought. i love the 150s. they are a pain the light for reef but the tallness is so neat.

Important question - What subfloor is under the tile? If it's a wood subfloor, the grout and maybe even the tile will crack.

Good Question.... makes a big difference in how you should handle it....

also a big tank ++ a wood floor means you may want to have it checked by a pro....

for things like joist spacing, size, any signs of rot or termites
and so forth....

I went and seen Pauls tanks to day they are awesome.

his new one is going to be a hit. From what i understood he has

been working on his 150 for over two years. And you can tell. His

chosen equipement is awesome. (the best in my opinion) .

RC tank of the month in the works if you ask me. I hope he post

some pics soon. he has given me some ideas for my future

system.

Just make sure all the leveling is done at the floor/stand area and not the stand/tank.

Leveling the stand to the tank can cause major stress points if done with shims.

I still need to go over and check it out!!!
