LF 40 or 60 cube~

I just made an IMPULSE buy on this tank yesterday! I got back into the hobby with a 12g Fluval Edge and have been jonesin' for a cube for a while. I went into Marine Solutions yesterday for some PhosGuard and came out with a 60 cube!!

Now I'm having a bit of a freak-out with looking at sumps and realizing most are too long to fit in the cabinet or too small for a 60g tank. Could you tell me where you got your sump?

THANKS!!

I had it custom made. Cost me a couple hundred but was done up to my exact specifications.

I was thinking of doing two standard 10g tanks next each other plumbed together but you would only have like 2 inches to plumb them together.

Nice! Any way you could provide me with the contact info of who built it? Do they do this for everyone or was it a friend of yours?

THANKS!

As necessary I decided to make a screen top for the cube but didn't want it just sitting on top because I thought it would be obtrusive on the rimless. I wanted it to fit inside the rim of the tank, which led me to need something for it to sit on.

I came up with these tabs for the screen to sit on and had my buddy make them for me since he has all the gear needed to bend acrylic and cut it to size.

And ofcourse an FTS. The wire for the thermometer hanging in front will obviously be gone when all said and done.

Those clips might become brittle with the heat that comes off LEDs :lolspin:

Thats a good idea in all seriousness

Looks nice dave I like that idea alot!

Thanks Mike!

Now that you have a top on it when are the fish going to go in?

I was going to go to SS yesterday and grab a firefish or something to toss in there but I tested my water and the tank has started to cycle so I'll be waiting a couple weeks before fish go in. I plan on getting a cleaner shrimp and a couple other fish before I toss the clowns back in since they can be real mean once theyre established. They killed my last firefish I put in the nano. I think one should be ok since the cube is twice the size and hes going in first this time.

Looks fantastic!! Clips were a great idea, you sure Jill didn't think of it?? ;)

The only ideas Jill comes up with for the tank is which livestock she wants, which is fine by me since it keeps her happy with the tank!

Hey how did u build your cover and what did you get for screen for the top of the tank? I might have to make one for my nano if my plans work out

I went to home depot and bought a screen kit w/ no screen. For the screen I used deer netting, the kind that goes over your flowers and such so the deer dont eat it. Its small enough to keep fish in but big enough so that it doesnt effect the light penetration in any way.

Ah smart thinkin looks like ill be makin a run to home depot lol im gonna have to figure out a way to bend it to curve the front! Let the experiments begin haha

Update~ pics.

Love the freckle on this clowns face. The BTA is very slowly getting back to healthy after he split when moved him into another tank while building this one. It lost alot of its color,he seems to be doing fine so only time will tell with him or the one that split and is under the rock work hanging upside down. I dont want to try and move him even though hes not getting much light down there. I figure if hes wants to move he will.

This Eibli is a beaut but doesnt like any other angels, found it out the hard way~

Nick generously gave me this digitata frag,a bit browned but worth a try I figured.
