Hello everybody, I am trying to recover from the ATO malfunction. Looking for pretty much anything but mostly lps and fleshy flowing corals. but open to all kinds. Im heading down to Pittsburgh tonight to pick up some livestock from a fellow reefer who is getting out of the hobby while my fiance has a med-school interview in Erie. So I am willing to travel to syracuse, rochester pretty much wherever. I just bought a new controller (AC3) and dc8 dc4hd, 2 solenoids, a new ATO and a ton of other stuff. I really need to get the tank back to its glory. Looking at it only half stocked and near lifeless is really starting to be depressing. Please let me know what ya got and where you are. I am going to try and make one long trip or trek for coral this week or weekend. Thanks

aaron

Im definitely planning a trip to rochester this weekend. I will let everyone know exactly when tomorrow night. hopefully I can plan out a whole trip to roch and syracuse just add stops along the way. Kind of a mini reef seeing trip across upstate NY.

THe guy outside of pitt is moving to AZ and getting out of the hobby for now. Got lucky that it just so happens I am already only an hour away today and tomorrow. I believe he is being nice enough and taking time away from his work schedule so it doesnt delay our trip out here.

Thanks henry and walter. You both have pm. About time i got out to roch and saw some of you guys anyway. I didnt get to meet a whole lot of you guys at the swap.

thanks everyone

aaron, i've got some palys and xenia (non pulsating) and some "firefly" gsp. Sorry, my frogspawn bit the dust with the heat spike this week...might have to get it to Henry or someone since i believe i'm going to Olean this weekend.

Wow on my way back home and spent way too much $$$. I don't think have enough room in the tank for all this stuff. Actually I know I don't. I will take pics asap. So much to do and th sabres game is on. Dang

we all spend too much money.....but look at it this way...you are going to be getting your tank back to the way it looked before...so it's all good. Congrats on the new purchases. Can't wait to see!

Thanks kat. Ill have pics up either in the morn or afternoon. Kinda sad I lost 2 fish on the way up. I have no idea how. I think it was from stirring up the sand bed in their original tank to catch them. I lost a sailfin tang and a xxl chromis. All the corals, clams, inverts that didnt come from the tank that the fish came from are all in perfect health. They were all transported the exact same way also the only difference is the water that was in the bags. So sad :( Not sure what im going to do I am in the middle of arranging everything so that it will fit but things are going to be cramped for sure. I also have a few stops in roch to make this weekend to hopefully get more corals.

that's a long drive for a fish in a bag of stirred up water...sorry to hear about that...especially the sailfin...love those..waiting on adding anything else to the 120g right now...have 7 anthias and two black clowns...

Next time in the Pittsburgh area you must check out Wet Pets.....the place is amazing for the best selection of saltwater fish i have ever seen.....very clean and been in the buisness a long time.....My wife is from Pitt...so I hit it every chance I get.........95% of all my fish come from there....QUALITY.

hmmm, I was told to avoid Pittsburgh lfs. I visited the "one" they have in erie reef cove or salt cove or something, regardless, it was terrible. They had 1 or 2 fish in each tank, almost all clowns. They did have a wide variety of coral, mostly softies but they were outrageously over priced. Also one of the 2 workers kept going back and forth testing the fresh water tanks literally the entire time i was there trying his best to avoid helping me and another customer that was in there. The other worker was on phone the entire time. Then there was another shop in Erie that had a very small selection but seemed to be well taken care of but not much in quality.

It was a long day. My fiances interview. I found a guys prepaid cell phone with no minutes on it in a parking lot and spent an hour trying to get it to him, the drive near pitts from erie to mike and tinas house (who were very nice people) who know a guy on RC. Unscheduled by nice stop off in the southern tier at a guys house from craigslist. Then back to buffalo. I wasnt thinking straight when tina and I put the tang and the chromis in the bags. They were big bags and there was more than enough water but I didnt even think about the garbage that was kicked up into the water. Long day and the drive just scrambled my brain. There were several other chromis, blennies, a lot of snails and a shrimp that did make it from that tank also which kinda had me thinking. But its late. I tried to snap a couple pics but my brain is mush and they turned out crappy. I do have a list of all the stuff i got that made it though:

A bunch of large astrea snails
5 inch corcea clam with nice color
5 inch blue dotted/green/golden derasa
5 inch green and golden squamosa
big blood shrimp
5" round ultra green encrusting hydnophora
60-70 polyp bright pink zoo rock
900+ polyps green dragon eye/eagle eye zoo rock
350+ polyps dragon eye/random zoo rock
400+ polyp green and pink/orange skirt/and fire and ice with pink eye zoo rock
8 head green frogspawn
3 xxl chromis
a pink spotted blenny
I think thats it I might be missing something tho.

I going to do my best to cram it all my tanks.

whoa. umm...if ya have any problems crammin' stuff into the tank??? remember the gal in the city who's heater took out all her frogspawn.....just sayin'.

LOL I still be over tonight neil. What time are you heading out? I call you after i finish up some work tonight.

ok finally got the pics on photo bucket. Ill try to get a full fts shot up later but every-time I take pictures with just the actinics on, the colors come out strange and washed out most of the time. I have to get the shot perfect to get the right color. I def need new actinics. Took me about 300 shots to get some that were close to true color. here ya go.

These two shots were just a few minutes after putting them in. not very happy clams

OK here are a few from the Fish only tank. I couldnt get a shot of a couple of the chromis or the pink spotted blenny cuz they were hiding. I really would like to know what kind of blenny he is.

Hope the tank is coming back to life for ya with the new additions! The derasa looks great!

I see my acan frag in the background on the one picture...glad it survived through everything:)

Thought those were them but wasn't sure. Did you transfer them from the disk to the plug?...Sunbursts is what I was told they were and matched them on ZoaID.com. Glad they're doing well for you!
